A fresh tattoo is an open wound. Good aftercare helps it heal cleanly, keeps the ink crisp, and reduces irritation.
Quick rules
Wash hands before touching your tattoo.
Clean gently—no scrubbing.
Moisturize lightly (don’t smother it).
Avoid soaking (pools, hot tubs, baths) until fully healed.
Avoid sun exposure—keep it covered or shaded.
Days 1–3
Clean 2–3x/day with mild, fragrance-free soap. Pat dry with a clean paper towel. Apply a thin layer of aftercare product.
Days 4–14
Expect peeling and itching. Don’t pick or scratch. Keep it clean and lightly moisturized.
What’s normal vs. not
Normal: mild redness, warmth, flaking, itching.
Not normal: spreading redness, heavy swelling, pus, fever, severe pain—seek medical advice.
